Andalusite is an aluminosilicate mineral that mainly exists in the contact zone between argillaceous rocks and intrusive bodies. It is a typical contact thermal metamorphic mineral. As a raw material for refractory materials, it has high thermal stability and is an excellent refractory raw material, Andalusite can be used not only as a raw material for unshaped refractory materials but also as a raw material for shaped refractory materials.
After calcination, andalusite can form mullite, which has high refractoriness, chemical stability, and mechanical strength, so it is widely used in metallurgy, building materials, and other industrial sectors. Generally speaking, it can turn into mullite when heated to 1300°C, which is a very good raw material for refractory materials. As a raw material for refractory bricks, andalusite bricks have very good thermal stability.
As a raw material for unshaped refractory materials, andalusite can reduce the shrinkage of refractory materials under long-term high temperatures, ensure that the refractory materials do not shrink and peel, and increase the service life of the refractory materials.
As a raw material for shaped refractory materials, andalusite refractory bricks have the characteristics of rapid cooling and heat resistance, high mechanical strength, strong thermal shock resistance, strong slag resistance, high load transfer point, and extremely high chemical stability and chemical resistance. Because of its corrosive properties, it is often used in key parts of high-temperature kilns such as hot blast stoves and burning blast towers.
Advantages of andalusite:
1. The volume is stable at high temperatures and does not shrink;
2. Lower production cost than other high-aluminum refractory materials;
3. Good performance, 43% lower loss than clay bricks, the long service life of 150 to 200 furnaces, and refractoriness as high as 1825°C or more;
4. Save energy. The heat capacity is 12% higher than that of clay bricks. When used in a Martin furnace, it can shorten the smelting time and consume less energy;
5. Add amorphous refractory materials as high-temperature expansion agent to prevent the product from shrinking and peeling at high temperatures;
Andalusite is a high-quality raw material for refractory materials. It is widely used for its advantages. Refractory products using andalusite include satin-burned bricks, unburned bricks, and amorphous refractory Fushun waste refractory brick materials.
