Silicon carbide castables are a high-performance refractory material composed of silicon carbide particles and a binding phase, with high strength, high-temperature stability, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance advantages. According to different components and uses, silicon carbide castables can be roughly divided into several categories and are widely used in many industries.
First, from the classification point of view, silicon carbide castables are mainly divided into aluminum silicon carbide castables and high aluminum-silicon carbide-carbon castables. Aluminum silicon carbide castables are made of high-alumina bauxite, plastic, and silicon carbide as the main materials, and are configured by adding explosion-proof fiber, kyanite, and other additives. They are often used in the lining and bottom of equipment such as steelmaking furnaces and converters. High aluminum-silicon carbide-carbon castables are made of corundum/super high-alumina bauxite clinker, silicon carbide, and carbon as the main raw materials, and are mainly used for the lining after the blast furnace is tapped.
In terms of application, silicon carbide castables are widely used in many fields due to their excellent performance. In the steel industry, silicon carbide castables are used for patching and repairing high-temperature equipment such as steelmaking furnaces and ironmaking furnaces to improve the fire resistance and service life of the equipment. In the chemical industry, silicon carbide castables are used for the repair and patching of equipment such as catalytic cracking furnaces and gasification furnaces to ensure the stable progress of chemical production. In the building materials industry, silicon carbide castables are used for the repair of equipment such as cement rotary kilns and gypsum kilns to improve the thermal efficiency and service life of the equipment.
In addition, silicon carbide castables also play an important role in non-ferrous metal smelting, power industry, waste treatment, and other fields. In non-ferrous metal smelting equipment, silicon carbide castables can improve the fire resistance of equipment and resist slag erosion. In power equipment, silicon carbide castables can be used in high-temperature parts such as boiler furnaces and combustion chambers to improve the fire resistance and safety of equipment. In environmental protection equipment such as garbage incinerators and toxic waste treatment furnaces, silicon carbide castables can improve the fire resistance of equipment, reduce heat loss, and ensure the efficiency and safety of environmental protection treatment.
In short, silicon carbide castable, as a high-performance refractory material, has been widely used in many industries and plays an important role.
