Refractory high-alumina bricks are a kind of shaped refractory material with an alumina content greater than 75%. They are widely used in the construction of various high-temperature kilns. There are many classifications of refractory high-alumina bricks, and there are differences in the raw material ratio according to the different parts of the high-temperature kilns. Today, the Xinhongji Refractory will mainly take you to understand the classification and introduction of refractory high-alumina bricks.

1. Classification based on different raw material ratios

Refractory high-alumina bricks are mainly classified according to different raw material ratios. There are first-level high-alumina bricks, second-level high-alumina bricks, third-level high-alumina bricks, special-grade high-alumina bricks, corundum bricks, low creep high-alumina bricks, dense high-alumina bricks, aluminum carbide high-alumina bricks, andalusite high-alumina bricks, etc. These are several common high-alumina bricks in the construction of high-temperature kilns. According to different uses, we can choose different brick types.

2. Classification by appearance

From the appearance point of view, high-alumina bricks are mainly divided into standard bricks, ordinary bricks, wedge-shaped bricks, special-shaped bricks, and special-shaped bricks. According to the different parts of use, we will choose different shapes. Sometimes if the part of the kiln is special, we can also customize special-shaped and high-alumina bricks.

3. Classification by number

Usually, the common high-alumina bricks are numbered by T, Z, C, S, K, and J, which represent general bricks, right-angle bricks, side wedge-shaped bricks, vertical wedge-shaped bricks, wide wedge-shaped bricks, and arch foot bricks respectively. It can be seen that their pinyin initials are the beginning of their numbers, followed by a short horizontal line dividing the sequence number. Let’s take general bricks as an example. The brick numbers of general bricks are T-1, T-2, T-3, T-4, T-5… T-105.

4. Classification by size used

There are many sizes of high-alumina bricks. To unify the market, my country has formulated a series of standards for refractory bricks. Generally, the common standard bricks we use are 230×115×65mm; four-piece: 230×115×40mm; three-piece: 230×115×30mm; mountain-shaped bricks: 150×120mm, etc. These are the common refractory brick sizes used on different occasions. Of course, we will sometimes customize them according to the size of our high-temperature kilns.

Refractory high-alumina bricks are widely used in the construction of high-temperature kilns, such as some smelting furnaces, hot blast furnaces, aluminum melting furnaces, etc. We must plan when using them and choose different refractory bricks according to the high-temperature resistance of our kilns.
