From the perspective of the more commonly used refractory bricks on the market, the current common refractory bricks mainly include high-alumina bricks, clay bricks, carbon-containing refractory bricks, zirconium-containing refractory bricks, corundum bricks, chromium-containing refractory bricks, magnesium-containing refractory bricks, etc. Different types of refractory bricks have different compositions, and the raw materials are a variety of refractory materials, including alumina, silicates, silica, magnesium oxide, etc. These raw materials are usually processed by mixing, grinding, molding, and other processes to form blanks.
High alumina bricks generally use bauxite as the main raw material, and then add bauxite clinker powder and fine powder, as well as a certain proportion of kyanite powder, and use pulp liquid as a binder. It is a kind of aluminum silicate refractory material, the main component of which is Al2O3. Among them, Al2O3 content greater than 48% can be called high alumina bricks, and when Al2O3 content is greater than 90%, it is called corundum bricks.
Clay bricks are mainly refractory materials made of clay clinker as aggregate and refractory clay as binder. They are weakly acidic refractory products and can resist the erosion of acidic slag and acidic gas.
Carbon-containing refractory bricks are refractory products made of silicon carbide as the main raw material. Generally, black silicon carbide (SiC content above 96%) is used as raw material, and binders (or no binders) are added. They are made through processes such as batching, mixing, molding, and firing.
Zirconium-containing refractory bricks are refractory bricks containing ZrO₂ made of zircon as raw material. Currently, the common ones are zircon bricks, zircon mullite bricks, zirconium corundum bricks, semi-zirconium bricks, etc.
Chromium-containing refractory bricks are refractory materials with a chromium trioxide content greater than 30% made of chromium ore as the main raw material. There are mainly two types: fused chrome corundum bricks and sintered chrome corundum bricks.
Magnesium-containing refractory bricks are refractory bricks made of magnesite as the main raw material. The magnesia raw material is crushed into granules and powders. After mixing according to a certain ratio, a binder is added to mix into the mud. It mainly includes fired magnesia bricks and unfired magnesia bricks.
