Refractory castable is a kind of amorphous refractory material widely used in high-temperature kilns. It is mainly in powder form. When used, a certain amount of water should be added and stirred evenly before use. It is usually used on some occasions where the construction of high-temperature kilns is more difficult. At present, there are many types of refractory castables. There are hundreds of known and widely used types. Sometimes, the same refractory castable from different manufacturers also has differences. The difference mainly lies in the ratio of the refractory castable.
At present, refractory castables can be divided into high-aluminum refractory castables, corundum refractory castables, mullite refractory castables, silicon refractory castables, magnesium refractory castables, silicon carbide refractory castables, low-cement castables, self-flowing castables, ramming castables, etc. according to different components. Different types of refractory castables can be used on different occasions. The main reason is that refractory castables with different proportions can meet different types of environments. For example, high-aluminum refractory castables have a high alumina content, good high-temperature resistance, and mechanical strength, and are often used in high-temperature industrial kilns such as steel and nonferrous metals. Corundum refractory castables are often used in key parts of some kilns because of their high refractoriness and excellent wear resistance.
In terms of usage, refractory castables are often used in some difficult-to-construct parts of high-temperature industrial kilns. They are widely used in metallurgy, steel, cement, chemical industry, glass, and other industries, such as aluminum melting furnaces, rotary kilns, blast furnaces, electric furnaces, trolley furnaces, glass kilns, and other kilns. It can protect these kilns from high temperature erosion, and at the same time ensure that the kilns can have a stable working environment and extend the service life of the kilns.
In addition to the above common refractory castable products, some refractory castables are proportioned according to the characteristics of the kiln, such as non-stick aluminum castables used in aluminum melting furnaces, which are mainly used to resist the erosion of aluminum liquid. Since some parts of high-temperature kilns require the entry and exit of materials for a long time, steel fiber castables are proportioned to ensure the life of the kiln. It can improve the wear resistance of the castable and increase the service life of the material inlet and outlet parts of the kiln. To resist the secondary erosion of the aluminum melting furnace by the medium, the anti-seepage castables, the ladle castables for the steel ladle, the ladle castables for the iron ladle, etc. are all refractory castables that are proportioned according to actual use, and are all designed to meet specific working environments.
Therefore, refractory castables are rich in variety and have a wide range of uses. They are an indispensable key material in modern industrial production.
