Concrete is an important building material, and there are many types of it. As two of them, heat-resistant concrete and ordinary concrete are both building materials, but there are great differences in their uses and characteristics. Today, I will briefly introduce the difference between the two.
The composition of heat-resistant concrete mainly includes heat-resistant gelling materials, heat-resistant aggregates, and refractory cement, which is highly resistant to high temperatures. Ordinary concrete is generally made of cement, coarse aggregate (crushed stone or pebbles), fine aggregate (sand), admixtures, etc. The composition of the raw materials between the two is very different. The raw materials of heat-resistant concrete have certain fire resistance, while ordinary concrete does not.
Heat-resistant concrete can be used stably at high temperatures of 200-1300℃. For some high-quality heat-resistant concrete, the heat-resistant temperature can reach 1500℃, and the volume density is 2.1-2.15g/cm3. In addition, it has high strength and wear resistance during use. The compressive strength of heat-resistant concrete is generally 10-40MPa, and the high-temperature strength is 3.5MPa-20MPa, so it can maintain high strength even at high temperatures. Ordinary concrete does not have a very high heat resistance temperature. Usually, after it exceeds 300℃, its strength will drop rapidly. Its strength at high temperatures is much weaker than that of heat-resistant concrete. Its volume density is usually 2.4g/cm3, and its wear resistance is also weaker than that of heat-resistant concrete. However, as a building material, its room temperature strength is much higher than that of heat-resistant concrete.
Heat-resistant concrete is often used in thermal equipment, industrial kilns, and structures subjected to high temperatures, such as furnace walls, furnace pits, chimney linings foundations, etc. It can also be used to build outdoor ovens, barbecue stoves, and fireplaces. Ordinary concrete is usually used in the construction of building structures, roads, bridges, water conservancy projects, etc.
There is a big difference between heat-resistant concrete and ordinary concrete, and there are also huge differences in their applications. Heat-resistant concrete has unique advantages in high-temperature environments, while ordinary concrete has huge advantages in the construction process. Therefore, in actual projects, the type of concrete should be reasonably selected according to specific use requirements and environmental conditions to ensure the quality and safety of the project.
