Refractory castables and refractory plastics are amorphous refractory materials, both of which are composed of refractory aggregates, powders, binders, etc. In addition to the different construction methods, refractory castables have different uses.
1. Refractory Castable
Many properties of refractory castables depend to a large extent on the type and amount of binder. In terms of strength, except for those made of light particles, since the strength of the pellets is generally higher than the strength of the binder-hardened body and the bonding strength between the particles, the strength of the castable actually depends on The binding strength of the binder.
The fluidity of refractory castables is generally higher than that of refractory ramming mass. Therefore, most of the refractory castables can be placed tightly and filled with the model only after pouring or shaking. After the castable is formed, it is necessary to adopt appropriate methods to promote hardening according to the hardening characteristics of the binder. For example, cement should be protected under proper wet conditions. For some metals, inorganic salts have to be dried and baked, etc.
The high-temperature properties of refractory castables are also closely related to the type and amount of binder. If the selected granular and powdery materials have good refractoriness, and the melting point of the binder is high and does not react with the refractory material to form a low-melting material, the refractory castable must have fairly high refractoriness. If the interlining of the granular and powdery materials used is certain, the fire resistance of the refractory castable is controlled by the binder to a certain extent, because most or even all of the castables are made of aluminate cement The fusible components of the refractory castable are always included in the cement stone, so the amount of cement has a significant effect on the high-temperature properties of the refractory castable.
2. Refractory Plastic
Refractory plastic (plastic refractory material) is an unshaped refractory material that has had high plasticity for a long time and is in the form of ooze paste. It is composed of refractory material particles and particles, binders, plasticizers, and moisture. Granules and fine powders can be prepared from various materials, but now aluminum silicate refractories are widely used. When using aluminum silicate refractory particles and fine powder to make plastic refractory materials, soft clay is often used as a binder. In order to improve the drying strength of the plastic, a certain amount of water glass, phosphoric acid, and Cementing materials such as aluminum sulfate. Aluminum silicate can be plasticized, and now it is widely used in the ramming lining of various industrial furnaces and as part of the lining of thermal equipment.
